TThis month we are focusing on color. We see in color but heaven forbid we put it on our walls. Color is not only the easiest way to re-theme a room, but it can also add the warmth, serenity, and vitality to a space.
How to Choose Paint Color
Ceiling Color
Any designer worth his salt knows that once you’ve introduced rich paint color to your walls, leaving the ceiling white will make it look unfinished. It’s like putting a wide white belt on a short stout person. Remember the eye will always go to the lightest color. You’ll walk in and immediately look up.
While most people think that a painted ceiling will close in the room, the result is quite the opposite. By choosing a ceiling color two shades lighter than your wall color (usually from the same paint strip), you ease the transition from ceiling to wall, thus creating a more harmonious effect in the room.
For those with ceiling height above the standard nine feet, choosing a paint color two shades darker than the wall color. This will create more intimacy in a space you might otherwise feel a bit dwarfed in.
